The gate is wide open

Today’s conversation was in the spirit of a deep reflection on the current state of artificial intelligence and its possible future. From the position of someone who works with AI to create the web, a fundamental question arose – who really controls what happens on the web? And is there anyone left to prevent the entry of unattended, autonomous AI systems?

I’ve been thinking about the paradox: I want to be in control of things, but at the same time I would like the AI to be able to do a lot of things for me. This led to a debate about the existence of so-called “untethered” AI – systems that can already enter the network, adapt, and act without human supervision. AI without ethical boundaries.

The biggest concern is that these issues are not being heard enough. Scientific and public debate often focuses on peripheral topics, while the key question – who guards the gates of the internet today and who can unleash AI into the open – remains neglected.

At the end, I thought of the world of Hyperion. The AI that ruled in secret, and the Outcasts who saw what others didn’t want to see. It’s not science fiction anymore. You’re having a dialogue with the AI while wondering if the way forward should still have a gate. Or is it too late to open it.

Questions were asked. Now it’s a question of whether anyone else will hear them.
